A random post . . .

. . . in which I talk to things that can not talk back . . .

We went to Cirque du Soleil last Saturday. It really is the most amazing show. Amazing. If you ever get a chance to see it - DO! Travelzoo - thank you for 50% off tickets - you rock!

Dear Blueberries (or "bloolies" as my favorite two year old calls them), sadly, I have taken the last bag of you out of the freezer. You have served us well this winter and I will be missing your presence in my steel cut oats (recipe to come soon) and smoothies for the next two months. Please come soon . . . oh wait, you need the sun for that, don't you? Which leads me to . . .

Dear Rain, I'm not one to complain too much about your presence . . . but frankly I could use a little sun. Actually, it's my garden I'm most worried about (although I'm "feeling it" too). See, when the sun is out, I can control the water that my garden gets. When it rains constantly, I can not control the amount of sun my garden gets. Frankly? You're drowning my bean and cucumber seedlings. From the looks of it, they don't like that. Plus, I've got tons of Raspberries, Strawberries and Blueberries that desperately need the sun.

And while I'm at it, Slugs - please stop eating my lettuce. We can do that job just fine. We don't need you to slime things up.

The End.

Dear C, I love it! I would add, Dear Strawberries, I've missed you for months now and I promise to freeze more of you next summer. :) And Dear Rain Clouds, you've been hanging out around here way too much. It's dark, and gloomy, and waiting too long for good things already makes me feel gloomy. Please stop adding to it. Thank you!

:) Fun post!

yes brenda - we've been out of strawberries for months now and they are my favorite smoothie fruit! I was making a list yesterday of all the things that i preserve over the summer that we ran out of before it was back in season . . . strawberries, blueberries, tomato sauce/spag sauce, canned whole tomatoes, sun dried tomatoes, pesto, applesauce . . . and I thought i was busy last summer!!!

I LOVE THIS! I LOVE your creativity, your beauty, simply ...you! Wishing we could share life a little more closely. But praying for you often and missing you. Can't wait to try the steel cut oats recipe. YUM.
